Erin Fetherston’s Home Looks Insanely Cozy

Erin Fetherston's Home on @SavvyHome

“My husband always joked that my New York apartment was a total fantasy princess palace.”

—Erin Fetherston

Erin Fetherston’s last New York City apartment was feminine to say the least: ornate Bergere chairs, floral chandeliers, French antiques and lots of pink. But when the fashion designer moved to Los Angeles to accommodate her growing family, the started her decorating process with a clean slate. Wanting her entire family—her husband Gabe Saporta and her newborn son—to be represented in the space, she reined in the pink frills and imagined a space that’s fresh, breezy, and insanely cozy. With the help of Mat Sanders of Consort, the pair created a chic monochrome cozy home that embodied easy living. With a clever mix of iconic modern pieces and muted soft furnishings, Fetherston’s new blank slate home is one she will be able to build on for years.

The Weekender: Getting Into the Groove

The Weekender on @savvyhome

Whoa. A lot has happened since our last post. I traveled to Italy, Turkey and Greece (hence the radio silence—more on the trip soon), and I made great new friends on the trip. I got back to New York and turned 30—and felt a little something like this about it. I got back into the swing of things and have started tackling mini projects around my apartment—which is coming along nicely. All in all, I’ve been busy, but happy. I’m really getting into the groove of things in New York, and couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else. This weekend it finally feels like fall around it, and I’m digging how the city is slowing down and feeling fresher (and cleaner!). The leaves are starting to fall and it’s really pretty. Happy weekend!

The Weekender: Foray into Fall

The Weekender — Fall Wardrobe

Yes, I’m alive. And yes, I feel awful about posting 1-2 times a week instead of the regular 4-5. The thing is: the pace in New York is different, I’m still adjusting to long work hours and endless after-hour options. The theory that New Yorkers use their tiny overpriced apartments to sleep, and sleep only is true—I can vouch for it. The other issue: no New Yorker is ever in the city on summer weekends. Between literally stinking hot temperatures—endless sweating and garbage smells—I’ve adopted the mentality that weekends are made to escape. And so I’ve spent a whooping two weekends in the city since Memorial Day. Which, I will grant you, leaves little to no time for being a normal human—one who does groceries, cleans, and writes blog posts on weekends. And I won’t lie—it’s been fun, and I’ve enjoyed taking full advantage of my few short months of summer.

But as Fall rolls around, I’m also well aware that soon, it’ll be time for all work and no play—no more weekend getaways, no more stinking hot sunny days—just the crisp cool air, a simmering chilli, and my laptop. And blog posts. Lots of blogs posts. Bear with me a little longer?
